うまい • UMAI

A Japanese spot in the heart of the Roma neighborhood.

Our History

An innovative gastronomic proposal of traditional Japanese food in Colonia Roma.

With an avant-garde vision, Umai presents Japanese gastronomy while elevating the senses to a maximum state of fascination, between the delight and quality of its menu, the wonder of a true Zen garden, in which the center will always be the diner, and the permanent natural melody of the movement of the trees and the song of the birds, that is Umai and it is in Colima 159.

Umai's proposal focuses on traditional Japanese food, using extraordinary national products, Japanese and from other parts of the world such as New Zealand, Chile, the United States and Alaska, to name a few. Of the gastronomic elements we can highlight the blue fin tuna (chu-toro / toro / akami), the king salmon, the Japanese sea urchin (uni) and the salmon roe (ikura), ideal to delight any palate..

Our Menu

The menu proposed by Executive Chef Nacho Carmona is a combination of concepts such as Nigiris, Makis, Tempuras, traditional soups and Sashimis. Among the specialties is the "Maki Ikigai", rib eye hibashi with shishito tempura, "Rib Eye Gyozas" and the Ikura in Lemon. Another of the great surprises brought to excellence is the hedgehog (uni), one of the star ingredients of Umai, which is why several of its dishes were created with the inspiration of its complex flavor.

"Great service, delicious Japanese food. And garden is sooo beautiful. It’s a hide jewel in this city. Good option for a date or friends. Try flamed sushi (don’t remember name). Cocktails are also nice! Menu is in QR."

"Esta divino el lugar! La carta de cócteles es una cosa peligrosa, probamos mil cócteles en base de Prosecco con toques de mezcal, sake, vermut y jugos naturales. Maki & nigiri son del otro nivel! Tienen que pedir los maki que no están en menú, los sirven tibios en papel aluminio. Deli! Servicio espectacular, ambiente súper relajante. Definitivamente un lugar Must go en la Roma Norte"

"Excelente experiencia. El jardín muy lindo pero mucho mejor el servicio y la calidad de los platillos. El tiradito de Totoaba es espectacular, la almeja chocolata a la mantequilla es una explosión de sabores, los makis de variedad de pescados y el de rib eye sorprendieron, los nigiris muy frescos. Postre de matcha muy rico también. Puntos extras por ser pet friendly y todos fueron muy amigables."
